McCLUSKY -- Mary Agnes Love Balcom, 79, McClusky, formerly of Bismarck, died Oct. 1, 2002, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Church of St. Anne, Bismarck, with the Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today at Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service, 200 W. Turnpike Ave., Bismarck, with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church. Mary was born May 25, 1923, the daughter of Wallace and Alice (Kelly) Garrett, in Minot. She was raised and educated in Minot and attended Minot State College. Mary met Curtiss A. Balcom Jr. while in college, and they were married on Feb. 12, 1946. Curtiss died in 1995. Mary worked for several years at Missouri Slope Livestock (Farmers Livestock Exchange), Bismarck, as a waitress and also worked for several years as a waitress at the Woolworth's Store in downtown Bismarck. Her family was the focal point of her life, and she enjoyed her grandchildren the most. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Vernon Lasher, McClusky, and Kathleen and Rob Hoffman, Bismarck; two sons, James C., Mandan, and Robert J., Placentia, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Jessica and Daniel Balcom and Sasha, Jerome and Nicholas Hoffman, all of Bismarck, Darcie Wahl, Fargo, Amanda Felipe, Dallas, Texas, and Rachelle Balcom, Placentia, Calif.; and two great-grandchildren, Jarett Wahl, Fargo, and Daniel Balcom, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Curtiss; two sisters, Jayne Reeves and Patricia Marshall; and one great-grandson, Hunter Wahl.
