Fort Bend Herald, February 8, 2018: Billy Johnny Kovar, Sr. died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Needville, Texas, on February 5, 2018, at the age of 77. Billy was born March 8, 1940, in Richmond, Texas. He worked as a skilled painter for over 50 years. After retirement he enjoyed sitting in his recliner watching football and keeping up with the news. His most cherished moments were spent with his wife of 57 years, Margie. He is survived by his loving wife Margie Zurovec Kovar; sons Billy Kovar, Jr., Ronald Kovar, Sr., Darryl Kovar and wife Lana, and daughter Krissy; grandchildren, Stephanie Everson and husband Dennis, Billy Jo Kovar, Ronald Kovar, Jr., Kalub Kovar, and Jacob Kovar; brother Larry Byrd; sisters, Sharon Charanza, Barbara Hoffman and husband Steven, and numerous nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Kovar Byrd of Needville, Texas, as well as by his grandparents and brother-in-law Edward Charanza. Serving as pallbearers will be: Clement Kovar, Billy Jo Kovar, Ricky Miller, Daniel Pieper, W.L. Morris, Jr., and Juan. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Friday, February 9, 2018, for one hour preceding the funeral service. Funeral services are set for 11 AM Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 3103 School Street, Needville, TX 77461.
