Bio
Doris Hertha Mueller Ewy, 98, died Tuesday (Jan. 30, 2018) at Newton Medical Center. She was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, to Jacob and Elisabeth (Ellenberger) Mueller. Doris was 7 years old when the family moved to a farm north of Halstead. She was a 1936 graduate of Halstead High School. On March 5, 1939, she married Ralph L. Ewy in the First Mennonite Church, Halstead. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2013. She is survived by a daughter, Carol (Tom) Rose, Halstead; sons, Ralph LeRoy Ewy Jr., Halstead, and Dr. Kenneth (Jane Ann) Ewy, Lawrence; daughters-in law, Cyndie Ewy, Wichita, and Karen Ewy, Boise, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was also preceded in death by sons, Gerald and Douglas Ewy; grandson, Ralph Edward Ewy; brothers, Jacob and Ernest Mueller; and sisters: Amelia Mueller, Elfreide Stucky and Hilda Schraum. Visitation will be 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 4, 2018) at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday (Feb. 5, 2018) at First Mennonite Church, Halstead, with Pastor Steve Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow at Halstead Cemetery.
