Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Monday, 3 August 1959 Mrs. Ethel M. Venecore, 83, the wife of Dee Vinecore, died Sunday evening in a local rest home following a lengthy illness. Her home was at 1123 East Eighth. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Apfel-Geddes Funeral Home by Dr. James S. Chubb, pastor of Trinity Methodist Church... Mrs. Venecore was born Sept. 25, 1875, at Eldora, Ia., to Uriah and Cynthia Moorman. She came to Nebraska with her parents, traveling by covered wagon in18.7?, and settled near Chambers. She was graduated from Ord High School and taught school for 15 years. She held a lifetime teaching certificate. She and Mr. Vinecore were married Dec. 30, 1901, and they observed their golden anniversary in 1951. During 1918, in the flu epidemic, Mrs. Vinecore served as a Red Cross nurse in Greeley County, and she had more than 1000 hours to her credit in Red Cross work during World War I. At one time she had sent 1,500 pairs of mittens which she had made herself to Korea and Alaska. She also supplied the needy in Grand Island with mittens and she had read the Bible completely through 84 times. She and Mr. Vinecore adopted two boys, Edward and Fred, and raised them. Surviving, in addition to her husband and adopted sons, are three granddaughters, Mrs. George Janky and Mrs. Lyle Juett, both of Grand Island, and Mrs. Leon Larison, College Corners, O.; two sisters, Mrs. Jeanne Hallock and Mrs. Lelia Moorman of Clarks; three brothers, Frank and Herchel Moorman, British Columbia, Canada, and Otis Moorman, Wyo., and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son. ****** Henry Dee Vinecore's Sept 1918 draft registration lists his wife as Ethel M. Vinecore. 1920 census at Scotia, Greeley County, NE lists Dee H. Vinecore, 28 with wife Ethel M., 34 married 8 years, with sons Edward age 10 and Fred, age 6. Also states that the boys were adopted. 1920 census of Center, Greeley County NE shows Henry Dee Vinecore, 38 married to Ethel M., 44, with two sons - Eddie & Frederick.
