Bio
Lorene Byrnes, 95, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018. She was born April 26, 1922 in Shiner to the late August and Mary (Filipp) Fojtik. She was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church and was retired from JCPenney. She was married to John S. Byrnes Jr. for 61 years until his death in 2005. Survivors are daughters, Darleen Dieringer and Janice Chumchal (Robert); sons, John T. Byrnes (Rosemary) and Dwight Byrnes (Yolande) all of Yoakum; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Garrett, Marie Sanders, Mildred Dixon, Dolores Scott, Carolyn Brogger and Betty Maeker; brother, Alfred (Fritz) Fojtik. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Byrnes; granddaughter, Kristi Dieringer; brother, Wilbert (Jack) Fojtik. Visitation 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Thiele Cooper Funeral Home. Funeral Service 2 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2018 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Warren Hornung officiating. Burial to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Hospice of South Texas.
