Mary Frances Raska, 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on her birthday, January 17, 2018, surrounded by her family. She was born in Clarkwood, Texas on January 17, 1939 and preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Bertha Kocurek; her nine siblings, and husband, Franklin Henry Raska, whom she was married 37 years. A devote Catholic, she attended the St. John's schools and took part in the rectory choir at both St. John's in Robstown and St. Thomas in Calallen. She married Franklin Raska on January 19, 1963 and went on to raise four children, Michael (Emily), Janet (Dale), Jeffery (Rosie), and Leslie (Wes). She was a huge fan of Martha Stewart and anything John Deere. She enjoyed participating in various hobbies and activities including gardening, cooking, but perhaps one of her greatest joys in life was being a grandmother to 17 grandchildren (Coleman, Carson, Caragan, Aramanna, Justin, Cody, Hailey, Hannah, Ryan, Ashley, Kasey, Maile, Daisy, Brandon, Justin, Rachelle, Rhylee) and 6 great-grandchildren (Emma, Ally, Gwen, Kamdyn, Brayson, Leighton). Although very mild mannered, she was always her grandchildren's and great-grand children's number one fan during all of their sports and school activities always defending them against the sometimes unruly referees and judges. If there was a Calallen spirit shirt to be worn, she would wear it proudly. Throughout her 79 years of glorious life, Mary Frances was blessed with many nieces and nephews as well as numerous other family members and friends. She will be remembered as a very kind and gentle woman who was supported by her love for her Lord and family. She will be missed ! tremendously. The family would like to thank Dr's Narang and Dr. Gupta and the staff of Post Acute Medical for their kindness in caring for our mother. Visitation will be from 4 P.M. until 6 P.M. and the Rosary will be recited at 6 P.M. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Sawyer-George Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. Monday, January 22, 2018 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Robstown Memorial Park.
