Arthur McConnell Jr. was born on May 10, 1944 in Fort Worth, TX to Arthur McConnell and Laverne McConnell who have preceded him in death. As a boy, he was active in baseball and he was an Eagle Scout. He attended Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth, TX and graduated in 1962. He enjoyed playing guitar and was in a rock n-roll band. They were featured on Channel 5 talent show. He also received several talent awards for singing and playing the guitar. He enlisted in the US Army in 1964 and served until 1968 and was a second lieutenant in Field and Artillery. He was stationed in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, and South Korea. He attended two years of college at Arlington State College. He was married in 1969 to the mother of his children, Sandy McConnell Harris. His children are Stefanie, Brett, and Emily. He worked on the Texas and Pacific Railway Company from 1971 to 1973 traveling to west Texas most of the time. He was employed with Foodmaker Incorporated from 1973 to 1994 in restaurant management. He was active in charitable foundations such as Toys for Tots and the Miss Texas Beauty Pageant for his company. He was most recently employed with Advanced Beverage where he made many friends all over Texas. Some of his favorite pastimes were playing the guitar and working on cars with his son, Brett, listening to Willie Nelson, and shopping at Sam's and The Tractor Supply Company. If a bargain could be found, he would find it! He loved spending time with his four grandchildren, Mallory, Garen, Logan, and Luke. He loved Fort Worth, was a proud member of The American Legion, he enjoyed agriculture and working on his farm, and had a love for animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed driving the open roads and getting out amongst nature. He had a great sense of humor and always made others laugh. He loved spending time with his neighbors and called it, "Going to the neighborhood meeting." He loved helping others and was available to people in need. He instilled in his children to get an education, work hard, and always persevere. He leaves behind wife, Lisa Price, sister, Barbara Hernandez, and brother, George McConnell. his children are: Stefanie Gillispie and husband, Jeff of Arlington, TX, son, Brett McConnell and wife, Paige of Arlington, TX, daughter, Emily McConnell of Euless, TX, and grandchildren, Mallory and Garen Gillispie, and Logan and Luke McConnell, and several nephews and cousins.
