Celebration of life 10 a.m. Friday, Trinity Baptist Church (Yanda and Son, Yukon). ∼ Obituary courtesy of the funeral home. Norman Dean Bewley, Dean to all who knew him, was born September 3, 1929 in Foss, Oklahoma. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Raymond Leslie Bewley and Bertha Browning Bewley, three sisters: Alma Howard, Audrey Spencer, and Geneva Johnston; a brother J. R. Burke; his son, David Dean Bewley, and grandson David Lee Bewley. He is survived by his wife of nearly 68 years, Elaine, of the home in Yukon; his daughter Jean Petersen and husband Ed of Lawton; Grandson Ryan Petersen and wife Holly, great-grandson August of Costa Mesa, CA; Grandson Tyler Petersen and wife Allison, great-grandson Robert of Oklahoma City; Grandson Anthony Bewley of San Marcos, TX; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends at Trinity Baptist Church of Yukon, especially the Young at Heart Class. Dean got on a bus in Clinton, Oklahoma just a day after he turned 19 years old to go to Buffalo, Wyoming to begin his career on a seismograph crew with Conoco; a career that lasted 37 years and forty moves around the country, including Montana, North Dakota, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, California, and finally, Oklahoma. He prided himself on never having a loss-of-time accident in all his years. He and Elaine married on June 4, 1950 at First Baptist Church in Custer City, Oklahoma. Since the many moves prevented them from putting down permanent roots, they made it a priority to find a church to put their family roots in each new home, where they could worship and serve God. Dean and Elaine have been proud members of Trinity Baptist Church in Yukon since 1980. A true handyman, Dean could fix nearly anything, and had almost every tool to help him do it. He didn't know a stranger, and always had a story or a joke to pass the time. A celebration of Dean's faithful life will occur on Friday at 10am at Trinity Baptist Church. Visitation and viewing will be held Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Yanda & Son Funeral Home in Yukon, OK. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 19, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church, Yukon, OK, with interment at 3:30 p.m. at Page Cemetery, Burns Flat, OK. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, 620 N. Cemetery Road, Yukon, OK 73099.
