Roy Lee Girndt, 74, of Rock Island, Texas passed away on January 11, 2018 in Victoria, Texas. He was born on December 17, 1943 to Lawrence Max and Bertha (Carpenter) Girndt in Eagle Lake, Texas. On August 31, 1974 he married Pennie Hugenroth. Roy worked many years in beverage sales for Coca Cola and Coors; and later worked in road maintenance for Colorado County Precinct 1. Roy is survived by his wife, Pennie Girndt of Rock Island, TX; daughters, Stacie Bogema and husband Scott of Katy, and Jennifer Pool and husband Trevor of Columbus, TX; son, Chad Girndt and wife Heather of Columbus, TX; sister, Ann Moore and husband Michael of Rock Island, TX; brother, Max Girndt, Jr. of Rock Island, TX; 7 grandchildren, Brycen Bogema, Brynna Bogema, Wyatt Pool, Waylon Pool, Dillon Peoples, Cody Peoples, and Austin Peoples; 2 great grandchildren, Brynlee Peoples and Bayleigh Peoples; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Max Girndt, Sr. and Bertha (Carpenter) Girndt. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 16, 2018, 5:00 pm from 7:00 pm; and Wednesday, 8:00 am to 10:00 am at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, 10:00 am at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus with Rev. Vernon C. Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Myrtle Cemetery in Rock Island. Pallbearers are Doug Wessels, Vance Brown, David Fuller, Everett Moore, Shannon Owers, and Keith Nance. Serving as honorary pallbearers are all his grandchildren. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of South Texas, 605 E. Locust Ave., Victoria, TX 77901.
