Turner, Robert E. March 28, 1980 Robert E. Turner, 53, of Kirbyville died at 1 p.m. Friday in Brenham, Texas, after attending a safety meeting for the Jasper Newton Electric Co-op. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church of Kirbyville, with Charles Burchett, pastor, and J. C. Jones, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, officiating. Active pallbearers will be Crawford Woods, James Davis, Gerald Davis, Carl Morgan, Herbert Huffman, Dennis Busby, J. T. Mitchell and Dewitt Moody. The remaining employees of the Jasper-Newton Co-op will be honorary pallbearers. Burial will be in Kirbyville Cemetery under the direction of Causey E. E. Stringer Funeral Home. A native of Beaumont, he had lived in Kirbyville most of his life and was a line foreman for the Jasper-Newton Co-op for 30 years. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Verda Lindsey Turner of Kirbyville; two sons, Robbie Behannon of Tampa, Fla., and Michael Behannon of Kirbyville; two daughters, Barbara Smith of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Beverly Lollar of Kirbyville; a brother, Herbert Turner of Nederland; two sisters, Katheryn Woosley of Jasper and Beatrice Turner of Beaumont; and three grandchildren.
