George J. Vrana, 75, of Granger, died Thursday, March 1, 2007 at Johns Community Hospital in Taylor. Rosary will be 5:30 PM, Sunday, March 4th at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Funeral Mass will be 10 AM, Monday, March 5th at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger. George John Vrana was born on February 19, 1932 in Granger, Texas to Frank and Annie (Matula) Vrana. He married Margaret Bohac on November 25, 1952 in Granger. This marriage was blessed with five wonderful children. George was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the United States Army. He worked for Kerban Manufacturing in Taylor for a short time after serving in the army. Mr. Vrana later made a living as a farmer until the time of his death. George was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, KJZT, Catholic Workman, and SPJST. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Elsie Mae Vrana and a niece, Theresa Motloch Manbeck. George is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret Vrana of Granger; one son Michael Vrana and wife, Laurie; four daughters, Patricia Greger and husband, Eugene; Deborah Hensel and husband, Sam; Marilyn Gaydos and husband, Gary; Kathleen Janke and husband, Scott, all of Granger; eleven grandchildren, Julie and Joseph Vrana of Granger; Vicki Hamende and husband, Joey of Hutto; Kevin Greger and wife, Crystal of Hutto; David and Brian Hensel of Granger; Kate, Jacob and Jason Gaydos of Granger; and Thomas and Kyle Janke of Granger; 3 great grandchildren, Kaylin and Branson Greger and Ethan Hamende, all of Hutto. Also surviving are a brother, Frankie Vrana and wife, Liz of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mary Motloch and husband, Ernest of Temple; Mildred Fojtik and husband Darwin of Mathis; sisters-in-law, Mildred Michalik and husband, William; Evelyn Kropp and husband, Daniel, all of Granger and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Julie Vrana, Joseph Vrana, Kevin Greger, David Hensel, Brian Hensel, Jacob Gaydos Jason Gaydos, Thomas Janke, and Kyle Janke. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Ernie Motloch, Anthony Motloch, John Manbeck, Darwin Fojtik, Jr., Robert Fojtik, James (Butch) Wilson, James Vrana, Wayne Michalik, Gregory Michalik, Steve Michalik, Kenneth Kropp, and Mark Kropp. Memorials may be made to SS.
