Bio
Hattie Zbranek, 87, of Garwood, died Tuesday. Aug. 19,1997. Born Oct. 16, 1909 in Taiton, she was the daughter of Joseph and Frances (Koudela) Fucik. Mrs. Zbranek was a retired cafeteria employee for the Garwood School and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada, Nada Catholic Daughters of the Americas and St. Mary's Christian Mothers. Services were held Aug. 22 at St. Mary's with Rev. Joseph Koebel officiating. Interment followed in St. John's Cemetery in Taiton. Services were under the direction of Triska Funeral Home in El Campo. Serving as pallbearers were A.J. Fucik, C.J. Fucik, Johnny Naiser, James Bunge Jr., Frank Kasmiersky, Billy Fuechec and Larry Fucik. Honorary pallbearers were Lee Cooke, John Conway and Richard Zbranek. Mrs. Zbranek is survived by sons Jerome Zbranek of Garwood and Alfred Zbranek of East Bernard and brother George Fucik of Taiton. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers James, Pete and John Fucik; and grandson James Louis Zbranek. Memorial donations may be made to the Garwood Volunteer Fire Department.
