Shirley Maxine Ketchmark, 90, of Grand Island formerly of Ord, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017. To honor Shirley’s wishes cremation has taken place and burial of ashes will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 22nd, at the Ord City Cemetery. Shirley was born March 7, 1927 in Ord, the daughter of Lloyd and Alice (Mason) Wilson. She grew up in Ord, graduating from Ord High School with the class of 1945. Shirley married Rolland Hanson and there were five children born to this union. She later married James Ketchmark, and they had two children. Early on, Shirley worked at the Ordinance Plant in Grand Island and for a few years she owned and operated “The Oasis” in Grand Island with James. For over 40 years, Shirley worked for various nursing homes. She later retired from the Grand Island Veterans Home after many years. Shirley’s family was the heart of her life. She enjoyed Bingo, reading, was an avid card player and an excellent cook. Shirley’s grandkids inherited much of her intelligence and strong work ethic. Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Patricia (Tom) Banks of Omaha, Barbara Hansen of Omaha, Peggy (Bill) Klanecky of Ord, Deborah Schimenti (Lynn Anderson) of Ord, Janee Weber of Grand Island, Julie (Darrell) Nelson of Grand Island and Bob (Tracey) Ketchmark of Grand Island; sister, Jeri (Mel) Masin of Lincoln; nineteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; grandson, Rolland Tockey and great-grandson, Rolland Tockey; brother, Lloyd Jr.; and sisters, Ginger Sich, Dena Sintek and Joyce Swingen.
