December 11, 2017 Nancy A. Karel, 66, of Valparaiso, died Monday, December 11, 2017 at Bryan West in Lincoln of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Nancy is survived by her husband, Stanley; mother, Eleanor 'Glee' Komenda of Brainard; son, Michael (Lisa) Karel of Seward; daughters, Rebecca (Matthew) McKelvey of Lincoln and Jody (Jon) Hartmann of Colorado; brother, Randy (Bev) Komenda of Lincoln; and sisters, Connie (John) Makovicka of Ulysses and Jan (Marvin) Bohac of Valparaiso; eight grandchildren, Reid, Regan, Claire and Caden Karel, Madison, Grant, and Chase McKelvey and Austin Hartmann. She was preceded in death by her father, Theodore. Closed casket; family greeting friends: 5-7 p.m., Friday, December 15, St. Vitus Catholic Church, Touhy. Parish rosary: 7 p.m., Friday, at the church. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday, December 16, also at St. Vitus. Burial: Saturday, December 16, New Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery, Brainard.
