Bio

Theda Gay Montgomery Cynova Hare, 89, of Bloomfield, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thanksgiving Day. She was born July 27, 1928, in Torrance, NM, to Frank and Gay (Chitwood) Montgomery. She was raised outside of Corona, NM, and moved with her family to San Juan County in 1937. She attended grade school in Flora Vista and helped her parents with their 80-acre farm. She graduated from Aztec High School in 1946. Theda married Emil Cynova in the fall of 1946, and they were happily married for forty-six years before he died in 1992. Three children were born of that union, Larry, Tim and Karen. Theda worked faithfully at raising her children and working the farm in Flora Vista where they settled. She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting and raised beautiful roses. Bowling was one of her passions and she won many honors and awards. She loved working her puzzles to pass the time. Theda reconnected with Wilbur Hare at a class reunion and they were married in November, 1995. They spent many happy years together traveling, camping and spending time with friends and family. Theda was preceded in death by her husband, Emil Cynova: her parents, Frank and Gay Montgomery: her twin sister, Marcella May: her brother, R.C. Montgomery: sister, Clarice Mariner: and son, Larry Cynova. She is survived by her husband, Wilbur Hare, her son, Tim (Carol) Cynova of Rio Rancho, NM, her daughter, Karen (Doug) Volbrecht of Ovid, Idaho, step-daughters, Ann (Dan) Pucell , Norma (George) Keffalos, and Debbie (Val) Mosley, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren and many other family and friends. Her grandson Ben Cynova was very special to her and cared for her in her later years. She was a devoted Catholic, attending the Holy Trinity Church in Flora Vista even after she moved to Bloomfield. A rosary will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 1, at Holy Trinity Church, 42 Road 3520 in Flora Vista. Holy mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Tate as celebrant. Interment will take place after mass at Memory Gardens. A reception will follow at Holy Trinity Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in her honor. Theda's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W.
