On June 13, 1951, he married the love of his life, Jessie June Koerner. They set up a farm, west of Amisk where 9 of their children were born. In 1973 they pulled up stakes and moved to Chilliwack, BC, where their 10th child soon arrived. Retirement came in 1988, with a move to Armstrong, BC. Louis was a man of many talents, there was nothing that he wouldn't or couldn't tackle. In his lifetime he built 2 homes and helped build various others, he has been a farmer, electrician, carpenter, plumber, beekeeper, blacksmith, welder, bus driver, school janitor, Scout leader, night watchman for a prison camp, and a herdsman. He worked on the flood gates for the Frazer River, was the president of the Ostomy Association for many years, sold vacuum cleaners, ran a sewing machine business, was employed at the Dairyland plant in Abbotsford, drove heavy duty equipment, worked on power lines, sang in the church choir at Hardisty as a young man, and promoted Amway and Mannatech. Louis worked hard to attain his 3rd and 4th Degrees for the Knights of Columbus, and volunteered countless hours for community and church activities. But his greatest accomplishment and triumph was his family. A Celebration of Life was held at St. Jospeh's Catholic Church in Armstrong, B.C. on Thursday, March 26, 2015.
