Bio

Daniel A. Kovar, 90, of Columbus, Texas passed away on November 11, 2017 in Columbus, TX. He was born on May 13, 1927 to Adolph Louis Kovar and Rosie Judith (Baca) Kovar in Columbus, TX. On October 2, 1951 he married Martha Vasicek. Daniel was a retired field supervisor for Parker Brothers. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council #2971 in Columbus. Daniel served his country in the US Army from 1945 to 1947 during WWII. He was a great father, wonderful grandfather, and amazing great grandfather. Daniel is survived by his daughter, Shirley Frenzel and husband Stanley of Columbus, TX; sons, Tommy Kovar and wife Cindy of Columbus, TX, and Michael Kovar and wife Jacqueline of Columbus, TX; son-in-law, Tommy Hahn of Columbus, TX; grandchildren, Stephanie Kainer, Sheri Escamilla, Haley Kovar, Chad Hahn, Curt Hahn, and Case Hahn; great grandchildren, Logan Kainer, Gage Kainer, Keegan Escamilla, Pria Escamilla, Cole Hahn, Cahrie Hahn, Carson Hahn, Tanner Hahn and Cady Hahn; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Vasicek) Kovar; daughter, Barbara Hahn; parents, Adolph Louis and Rosie Judith (Baca) Kovar; brothers, Jesse Kovar, Bill Kovar, and Leroy Kovar; and sister, Leona Loeve. Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Henneke Funeral Home, Columbus, TX; and Wednesday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus, TX. A Parish Prayer Service and K of C Rosary will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 7:00 pm at Henneke Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, 10:00 am at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Asante Augustine officiating. Burial will take place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus, TX. Pallbearers are Chad Hahn, Curt Hahn, Case Hahn, Lawrence Urban, Arno Ruether, Frank Kovar, Brian Kainer, and Joel Escamilla. Honorary Pallbearers are granddaughters, Sheri Escamilla, Stephanie Kainer, and Haley Kovar. Memorials are suggested to the charity of your choice.
