Bio

Graveside services for Arthur Kitchens, 101, Tyler, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tyler Memorial Park with the Rev. Tom Crawford officiating. Arrangements under direction of Memorial Funeral Home, Tyler. Mr. Kitchens died March 16, 2007, at a Tyler hospice. He was born March 2, 1906, in Smith County to the late W.H. and Nora Barner Kitchens and was a lifelong resident. He served in the 112th Cavalry National Guard for three years, retired from Southern Creamier and Ice Co. after 50 years service, and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Edna Terrell Kitchens, two sisters and four brothers. Survivors include sons, Donald Kitchens, Killeen, and Tommy L. Kitchens, Ottawa, Kan.; daughters, Barbara Elrod, Tyler, and Patsy Roethler, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to charity of choice. Published in the Tyler Morning Telegraph on 3/19/2007.
