Daughter of Anna & Anton Mach of Burwell, Nebraska. Mary married Frank Erwin Janicek of Burwell. They had four daughters: Evelyn Marie (1929-1985), Rose Lillian (1930-2000), Lorraine Ann (1934- ), and Darlene Faye (1935- ). Frank and Mary divorced in about 1944. Mary never remarried. Mary was a happy, joyful, cheerful person to be around. In the 1950s, she was a pressing machine operator in the dry cleaning department of Yost Clothing Store in Ord, Nebraska. In 1978, Mary discovered that she had serious kidney troubles. Her daughter Lorraine offered her one of her kidneys, but Mary chose instead to take the long, tedious kidney dialysis treatments. It required her to get to Aurora, Nebraska, three times a week, a 180-mile drive round trip from/back to her home in Ord, NE. In April 1986, she had her 1,000th treatment. They took a toll on her energy.
