Bio

Doris Garrette Graziano Peterson Mays passed away early Tuesday morning, November 22, 2011 in Oklahoma City. She was born on October 28, 1926 in Wanette, Oklahoma. She survived a tornado when she was around 9 years old, and enjoyed telling stories about growing up on a farm. She began night college business classes before she graduated from Capitol Hill High School, but her desire to help with the war effort led her to quit college and take a job at Tinker Air Force Base. After raising her 5 children, she began a long career in Real Estate with Abide Realty, where she reached the Million Dollar Sales Club. She is survived by her husband of 9 yrs, Floyd L. Mays; son Joe and wife Betty, son Tony, daughter Kathy, son Paul and wife Kim, daughter Anita; stepson Steven and wife Ellie, stepdaughter Kathy; brothers George Garrette and wife Rachael, Jack Garrette and wife Katherine; sister Ruth Carroll and husband Earl; grandchildren Callie, David, Nick, Mike, Joey, Anna, Cappra and Garret; 7 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents George and Anna Garrette, husband R.A.'Tony' Graziano, husband Richard Peterson, sister Anita Jean Smith and sister Elnora Barnes. She will be missed by all who knew her and will always be in our hearts. Viewing will be Wednesday at Mercer-Adams. Funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 25th, 2011 at Christ The King Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
