Cecil Lewis Lybarger Sr., 87, of Alda passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island. Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Alda United Methodist Church. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family. Cecil was born August 20, 1930 at Arcadia, NE to Floyd and Mabel (Anderson) Lybarger. He grew up and received his education in Arcadia. On December 9, 1949 Cecil entered the United States Army, serving in Korea. He was honorably discharged December 8, 1952. On July 12, 1953 Cecil married Margaret Murphy. Following their marriage, they lived in Florida, Nebraska and New Mexico, before settling in Alda. He was employed as a mechanic at the Ordinance Plant. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Cecil was also an honorary father to Cheryl Iwanski and family. He loved camping and fishing with his family. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard and garden and woodworking. Cecil loved to rebuild Ford 8N-Series tractors. His pride and joy was his ’53 Ford Golden Jubilee. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 64 years, Margaret; son and daughter-in-law, Cecil Jr. and Valerie Lybarger and daughter, Peggy Lybarger, all of Grand Island; grandson, Derek Lybarger of Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter and her husband, Teresa and Tim Muckey of Grand Island; brother, Ivan (Carolyn) Lybarger of Kearney; and three sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Glenn and Kenny; sister, Doris; and brother-in-law, Francis Leonard.
