Bio
Betty Jean Smith, 88 of Big Spring, formerly of Snyder, died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, in a Big Spring hospital. Family graveside services will be at a later date. She was born March 22, 1929, in Oklahoma and married Jake Smith May 22, 1967, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Jean was the assistant director of the Scurry County Senior Citizens Center in Snyder for many years. She came to Big Spring in 2002. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Big Spring. Survivors include her husband, Jake Smith of Big Spring; five children, Randy Duncan and wife, Donna of Lovington, New Mexico, Linda Park of Big Spring, Diane Biggers and husband, Randy of Levelland, Debra Lowder and husband, Mike of Early, and Jay Smith and wife, Brenda of Katy; one brother, Orthar Dean Furrh; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sons, Terry Duncan and Woody Duncan. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home and Crematory.
