Betty Lou Blaha, age 80, of Jarrell passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at her home in Jarrell. She was born on December 6, 1936 in Pflugerville, Texas the daughter of Anton and Amelia Pokorny. On August 12, 1956 in Taylor, TX at Taylor Brethren Church she married Raymond Blaha. Betty Lou worked for 35 years with National Western Life Insurance Company retiring as the Assistant to the President in 1998. She loved gardening and baking, made some of the best fried chicken, was well known for her turkey and dressing, and one couldn't beat her potato salad. But dearest to her was spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters Pam Bartek and husband Mark of Zabcikville and Cheryl Blaha Arldt of Temple, grandchildren Paige Bartek Melton and husband Hunter of Victoria, TX, Taylor Bartek of Lubbock, Brodie Arldt of College Station, and Kassidy Arldt of Temple. She is also survived by her sisters, Evelyn Gebala of Temple, Emily Saathoff and husband Harley of Pflugerville and Irene King and husband CJ of Pflugerville, brother-in-law Richard Delancy of Taylor, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Betty Lou was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, parents Anton and Amelia, sister Antoinette Delancy, and brother-in-law Bernie Gebala. Visitation will be held at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, TX 76504. A funeral service will take place at Immanuel Lutheran Church 2109 West Ave. H Temple, TX followed by burial at Seaton Brethren Cemetery.
