Bio

Bill Baker, 87, of Athens, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Burial will be in Murphree Cemetery. Billy was born in Hamilton, Texas, to the late R. B. Young and Ruby Baker. He served four years in the U.S. Army during the early 1950s. He then worked as a brick mason by trade and owned his own masonry company. He had a small farm that he loved to run cattle on. Billy also loved spending time with his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Baker; a son, Billy Randall Baker; and his brother, Arvis Baker . Survivors include his sons, Thomas Baker, of Dallas, and Danny Baker, of Lancaster; stepsons, Lewis Stickles and his wife, Beth, of Lindale, Texas, Sterling Stickles and his wife, Barbara, of Poteet, Texas, and Joseph Stickles and his wife, Lisa, of Forney, Texas; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
