Bio

Buford was born to George and Agnes Petty in Upshur County. On July 12, 1941 Buford married Margie Russell in the home of Rev. & Mrs. Obie Baker. They have been happily married for 76 years. Buford worked 38 years for Amoco in the Odessa-Andrews area. He retired as a Field Forman. Mr. Petty was ordained a Deacon in 1950 at First Baptist Church-Goldsmith, TX. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Gilmer and a member of the Thomas Sunday School Class. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Marie Petty Porter, Garth Lee Petty, Douglas Petty, Jean Petty Yowell, and Harold Wayne Petty. Survivors include his wife of 76 years Margie Petty, 2 children; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
