Velena I. Allen,73,Minneapolis, died Friday, April 29,2016 at her home. She was born February 6,1943 in Big Spring, Tx to A.L. and Mildred (Franklin)Woods. Velena was united in marriage with Richard Kirby Allen on July 10,1961 in Big Spring. She worked as a secretary for Dub Johnson and Sons for over 25 years.She then served as Deputy County Clerk for Ottawa County. After her retirement, Velena worked at Hard Rock Liquor as a clerk. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mildred LaFaye Hudson. Survivors include her husband Kirby;sons Scott Allen (Tami) and Joe Allen (Angela); brother Dallas Woods(Dorothy);brother-in-law Bob Hudson (Jo);seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held 11:00 A.M.Saturday, May 21 at the Wilson Family Funeral Home,Minneapolis. Memorials were to the OCHC Public Transportation.
