Obituary from Daily Herald (Provo, UT) - July 5, 2005: Our beloved father and grandfather, Reed Giles Gillespie, has been reunited with his eternal sweetheart, Fae, after 23 years of loving anticipation. Reed passed away July 3, 2005, at his home of 61 years in Orem. He was born June 18, 1919, in Provo, Utah (Edgemont Bench), a son of Sharp Claud and Eva Petrea Giles Gillespie. He married the love of his life, Fae Bunnell, on November 28, 1944, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Fae passed away September 7, 1982. Reed was raised in Orem and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1938. He then served an LDS Mission to the Hawaiian Islands in 1939. He worked as a fruit grower; and, as a maintenance technician for 38 years for Alpine School District. Reed was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings, including ward clerk, stake Sunday School superintendent, primary worker in various capacities; and, he served as an ordinance worker in the Provo Temple for several years. Our father and grandfather was a loving and kind man who was generous with his love and encouragement. He taught by example. He was proud of his family and took pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. In his final illness, he taught us faith and enduring to the end. Survivors include his three children: Cathy and William Delaney, of Orem; Jane and Michael Tervort, of Green River, Wyoming; and Daryl and Lisa Gillespie, of Shelley, Idaho. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mary (Spencer) Hunn, of Orem. Reed was preceded in death by his loving wife, Fae, his parents, two brothers, Wilford and Robert and, two sisters, Petrea and Jean. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7, 2005, at 11 a.m., in the Cascade Ward Chapel, 1051 East 200 North in Orem.
