Elva Janak, age 81, of Walton, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, September 19,2017 after a year battle with cancer. Born November 26, 1935 in Shelby, Nebraska, to Ralph and Ruth (Owens) Davidson. She attended country schools in Polk and Butler County and graduated from Butler County High School in David City in 1953. She then attended Bryan School of Nursing and received her Diploma RN license in 1956. On December 27, 1956, she married Richard Janak of Surprise, Nebraska. In 1959, they moved to the farm near Walton where she helped on the farm where they raised Charolais cattle. Elva loved nurturing her cats and tending her flowers. She was especially proud of her three grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time with them, and attending their numerous activities. She was especially proud of being a RN for 60 years. She started her nursing career at Bryan Hospital, then worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lincoln Clinic, Women’s Clinic, and finished her career at Aging Partners as she officially retired on October 3, 2016. She is survived by: children, Douglas Edward and Colleen Marie (David) Nielsen; grandchildren, Caleb and Jared Nielsen and Emily Janak; sister-in-law, Mary Davidson; and nephews, Robert (Julie)n Davidson, Brooke and Bradley, and Todd (Carlie) Davidson, Garrett and Kelsie. She is preceded in death by: parents; husband of 57 years; and brother, Leonard Davidson. Celebration of life service on Monday September 25, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
