Sarah Jane Uland was the daughter of John Uland and Polly Bays. She was married on September 8, 1859 in Greene County, Indiana to Pleasant Shields. He died during the Civil War, and she married again on October 14, 1864 in Greene County, Indiana to George Fogle.
