Dorothy Helen Collier Krein age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Windsor Oxford Unit in Coffeyville. She was born July 30, 1928 at home in Dearing, KS to Louis P. Tuggle and Nannie (Dyer) Tuggle. She attended Dearing School and received her high school diploma from Garden Grove Union High School, Garden Grove, CA. In 1945, she moved to California to care for her nieces and nephews while her sisters were working. It was there that she met her future husband, Robert Collier. They were married on May 22, 1948. They were blessed with a son, Kelley Wayne and a daughter, Shannon Kay. They lived in Garden Grove, CA for several years and then moved to Nevada, MO to be closer to family. They later divorced after 31 years of marriage. On August 8, 1980 Dorothy was married to Tim Krein in Pierre, South Dakota. They later moved to Shenandoah, Iowa where they lived for many years before divorcing in 2007. Dorothy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Shenandoah and active in church functions. Her hobbies included reading, always listening to music and researching family genealogy. She was a member of the "Sweet Adelines" and enjoyed performing with them. She had a beautiful voice. While living in Nevada, MO she was a member and very active in the "Benevolent, Patriotic Order of DOES" BPO Club. Dorothy worked throughout her life. In the 1950's she worked for Hughes Aircraft in CA building radar equipment. In Nevada, MO she was secretary for the Chief of Police for many years. She retired from Avon Sales after around 20 years of serving her customers in Shenandoah, Iowa. Survivors are her son, Kelley and wife, Nikki; daughter, Shannon; she was "Nana" to her nine grandchildren, Kandi, Deigh Jayne, John, Megan, Asher, Wayne, Varien, Rachel; great granddaughter, Libby; great grandsons, Finnian and Maddox and many nieces and nephews. Her niece, Susan Tuggle provided comfort, care and support during her last years in Coffeyville, along with the staff at Windsor who provided daily care. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Nannie Tuggle; brothers, Charles and John Tuggle; sisters, Lela Tuggle, Mary Tuggle, Lillian Cullimore, Minnie Larkin Mahar and Rose Rogers.Inurnment will be at Robbins Cemetery west of Coffeyville, Kansas. Cremation has taken place under the direction of David W. Barnes Funeral Home in Coffeyville, KS. No service is scheduled at this time.
