2nd wife of Judge John Richard Thompson Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Wednesday, 8 July 1908, page 6 Death of Mrs. J. R. Thompson. Mrs. Judge John R. Thompson passed away this morning at 4 o'clock after a long sickness. Mrs. Thompson had been in failing health for two years and about January 1907 she caught a severe cold which settled in her throat and lungs, and upon being so advised, she tried to change in climate and at times there seemed to be some improvement. But indigestion bothered her so much that she was unable to take the nourishing foods her condition required, and about ten days ago she was taken considerably worse. Consumption was the final and fatal illness. Mrs. Thompson was 41 years of age, born in Wales and moved to Iowa City, Ia in about 1869. About eight years ago she was married to Judge Thompson and during this time has made Grand Island her home. Besides the members of the Thompson family who mourn her untimely loss, she leaves five brothers and one sister, some of whom live in this city. The funeral will take place Sunday, July 12, at 2 p.m. from the home at 823 West Second street. The many friends of the family join them in their hour of sadness.
