1st wife of Judge John Richard Thompson Grand Island Independent Saturday 29 December 1888 In Memoriam The announcement in a recent issue o the Daily Republican of the death of Mrs. John R. Thompson of Grand Island, Nebraska, has caused many to feel sad, and many tears were shed for her, whom her friends here knew better as Miss Lizzie Pryse. To know her was to love her. Her always cheerful disposition and her faithful, unselfish and loving devotion to her friends made those who knew her best, love her most, and her untimely death is deeply mourned. Less than a week before her death, she was stricken with typhoid fever and only suffered a few days until she was called to her home, where she had always scattered seeds of loving deeds, to the home beyond the grave. she leaves a husband and five children. The sincere sympathy of friends of this county, is extended to them in their great bereavement.— Iowa City Republican.
