Bio
Joseph Oliver Edmunds Sr., 94, of Cheyenne died June 25 at Cheyenne VA Medical Center. He was born Sept. 24, 1919, in Yankee Hill, Calif., to C.B. and Mary (Hammond) Edmunds. He grew up in Burns and graduated from Burns High School in 1938. Mr. Edmunds served in the 5th U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was assigned to the 43rd Bomb Group in the Pacific as an aerial photographer. After the war, he returned to the Cheyenne area and married Maxine Ward in September 1947. He was a longtime employee of Pioneer Printing as a journeyman pressman. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, seven brothers, one sister and one grandson. He is survived by a sister, Edythe Hagen of Globe, Ariz.; sons, Donn Edmunds (Mary) and Joseph Edmunds Jr., both of Cheyenne; daughters, Kathryn Albee (Michael) of Coolidge, Ariz., Barbara Edmunds of Cheyenne and Rita Teasley (Matt) of Texas; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. © Wyoming Tribune Eagle June 29, 2014
