Bio

Mike Gage, 67, of Rockdale was born October 30, 1949 in Houston to Tommie Wendell and Artie Mitcha (Beard) Gage. He was one of 10 children. They came to Thorndale, where Mike was raised and attended Thorndale I.S.D. He worked as a roofer and specialized in wood roofs on historic buildings in national parks in South Dakota, Wyoming and Colorado. After living and working in those areas, he moved to Rockdale where he has lived the past 5 ½ years. He passed away Tuesday afternoon, September 5, 2017 at his home in Rockdale. He was preceded in death by his parents, Artie and Wendell Gage; two sisters, Barbara Hughes and Bertha Lacey and a brother, Phillip Gage. Surviving are his children, Anthony Gage of Thrall, LaNell Deardorf and husband Bert of The Hills, Texas, Michael Gage of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Kristen Roshto and husband Thomas of Denham Springs, Louisiana; five brothers, Eddie Gage and wife Mary of Waller, Jimmie Gage and wife Louise of Humble, Vernon Gage and wife Barbara of Milano, Roger Gage of Clearlake and Robin Gage and wife Annette of Baycliff; his sister, Lynda Rankin and husband Jim of Austin; seven grandchildren, Shawn, Megan, Lauren, Landon, Ava, Reece and Reed. Graveside services are scheduled in the Pleasant Retreat Cemetery near Thorndale, Texas. There will be no visitation.
