Bio

"Pop's" grandfather came from Laurens County, SC, to McNairy Cty, TN, and then his father moved to Gibson Cty,TN, where "Pop" was born and raised. His family later moved to Arkansas. He moved to Memphis, and one of his first jobs was as a shoe salesman, where he met a pretty lady from Mississippi, who was shopping for shoes, and later married her. They first lived on Carr Avenue before moving to the "country" at 4263 Highway 51 South in 1941, years before it was named Elvis Presley Blvd. "Pop" was a top salesman for Sealy Mattress Company for 30 years, and owned a furniture store in Memphis in the late 1940s and early '50s.
