Son of Oscar Adolph & Melitta Schulze Kneuper. Husband of Jean Lackey. OBITUARY:Elgin N. Kneuper "Butsy", of New Braunfels , Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Brookdale Senior Living. He was born to Oscar A. Kneuper and Melita S. Kneuper on February 19, 1926 in New Braunfels. Elgin graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1945 and later attended Draughon's Business College. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Jean Lackey. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving on the church council, and as an usher. He was also involved with the local Boy Scouts, Troop #133, for many years, serving on the Advancement Committee of the Alamo Area Boy Scouts of America. During that time, he saw both of his sons become Eagle Scouts. He was an Accountant for Entex, Inc. and Centerpoint Energy until his retirement in 1987, working for a total of 41 years. He was also very involved with the New Braunfels Jaycees, helping them start up and institute the city's first Little League Baseball program. Some of his favorite past-time activities were Saturday night dancing, playing cards and dominoes, playing golf, traveling, enjoying music and hunting. His greatest love in life was serving God and spending quality time with his wife and sons. You could not find a more loving and caring person. He would do anything for anybody. He was God's special angel. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jean Lackey Kneuper, sons, Craig Kneuper (Kristen), and Steven Kneuper and wife, Lynn; grandchildren, Colton Fennell, Dodge Lucas, Dawson Lucas, and Rory Kopplin Rabanne. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Doris W. Wimer, and brother, Jean C. Kneuper. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2018 at Zoeller Funeral Home with Reverend Charles DeHaven officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Brookdale Hospice.
