There are two affidavits on file in the Bexar County Clerk's office sworn to by a Frances Williams who claimed to have personally known Ida during her lifetime, and one by her husband James L. Cavenaugh. The one by Frances Williams says that Ida was the daughter of John Valentine Slovak and Annie Frances Slovak, that she was born 10 July 1910, and that she has two surviving brothers and three sisters, all of whom are named. The one by her husband says that she was married only one time and that time was to him and that they were married on 17 Oct 1953 in San Antonio. The marriage is verified by the marriage document also on file in the County Clerk's office. Ida's own death certificate gives her Father as John V. Voznica and her Mother as Frances Ann Voznica, her birth place as West, Texas, and her usual occupation as cosmetician. Her husband was the informant for the death certificate so it is unknown why he gave the Mother's birth name to both parents. Fortunately her brother Edward Joseph Slovak's death certificate gives his Father's name as John Slovak and Mother as Francis Annie Voznica. John and Frances Slovak were enumerated on 22 June 1900 in McLennan County. He was 27, born Dec 1872 in Bohemia, immigrated in 1891, and was a farmer. Frances was 23, born Dec 1876 in Bohemia, and immigrated in 1889. They had been married four years. She had had two children and both were alive. Listed with them were son Joe, age three, and daughter Josephine, age one. There is a marriage record showing that John Slovak married Frances Vonzicova on 28 Oct 1896 in McLennan County. They are not found in the 1910 census. Ida Slovak is listed in the 1920 census in McLennan County in the family of Frank and Theresa Bezdek. She was ten and said to be an orphan. Frank and Theresa Bezdek only had one child, but also raised two foster children, one of whom was Ida. She was listed in Theresa's 1945 obit as a foster child and living in San Antonio. In 1930, Ida was listed in Waco in the family of Ross and Ola Sams, and was said to be a servant. By 1931 she was in San Antonio, listed in the City Directory. Listed again in 1940, she was a Beauty Salon Operator, and in 1948 was an Operator in the Aurora Beauty Salon. Ida and James had no known children. The affidavit by Frances Williams said that there were no children.
