Bio

Twelve year old Johanna Olsak came to America in 1891 with Thomas and Rosina Zabcik. She was listed with them as child. Thomas was 51, and Rosina was 41. They were from Bohemia. Johanna married Joe J. Pokorny about 1897 presumably in Williamson County. They were enumerated there in 1900 with one child. Tom and Rosina Zabcik were living with them as boarders. Tom was 60 and Rosina was 48, and they had been married 25 years. Everyone but young nine-month-old John Pokorny had been born in Austria. Joe and Rosina were enumerated in probably the same place in 1910 with six children. Rosina Zabcik was about twelve houses (farms) away living as a boarder with Frank and Theresa Kaspar. She was a 60 year old widow. Her husband Tom had presumably died. In 1920, Rosina was back living with Joe and Johanna Pokorny with her relationship to Joe given as mother-in-law. Joe J. Pokorny died in 1928. In the next census in 1930, Johanna Pokorny was head of the family with four of her children and Rose Zabcik strangely listed as a cousin. Johanna and Joe J. Pokorny had ten children.
