Bio

Elaine A. Bravenec passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family January 18, 2014, in West Richland, WA. She was born in Wicomico, Maryland on September 25, 1953 to Claude and Arietta Hovatter. She grew up on the Eastern Shore, where she met her first husband, Harold J. Willis. They were married in 1970 and had three children, Sherry Lane, Shelly Jane, and Harold Joseph. They divorced in 1975 and she moved to Arizona initially then to Washington State with her family. Her work career started as a Pasco Police Department Dispatcher, working as a clerk at Payless, then as a driver at the Pasco Auto Auction. Elaine met the love of her life, Bill J. Bravenec in 1976. They were married and began their life together, the following year at Quinault Baptist Church in Kennewick on November 26, 1977. She moved with her husband and family, many places across the nation, as his Iron Worker Apprenticeship and Journeyman lead them on an adventure of seeking work. She was a creative and supportive homemaker, enjoying sewing, painting, needlework, canning and ceramics. She returned to school to pursue a business degree, after her children were in middle school, she then graduated from Tegrity Business School in 1984. Her construction management field career started in the Tri-Cities with Riddell International and Passion Incorporated. Over the next 23 years, she devoted herself to the success of GLY Construction, with many projects in the Seattle Bellevue Washington area. She retired in 2009, to care for her mother in law and grandmother, moving back to the Tri-Cities. She enjoyed RV traveling, bowling, gambling, antiquing, and spoiling her dogs, visiting with her family, many grandchildren and friends at every opportunity. Elaine will be remembered for her red hair, temperament and stubbornness, in addition to her unconditional love, kindness and willingness to help and forgive those whom she cared for and loved. She struggled with great sadness, as her body and vision failed, and although we will miss her greatly, knowing she is with our Lord, with no ailments or sadness is a blessing. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill J. Bravenec, daughter Sherry Bravenec, daughter Shelly Flores & Javier, son Joe Bravenec & Heather, sister Claudia Fay Johnson & Albert, brother Claude Gay Hovatter & Caroline, sister-in-law Teresa Bravenec, brother-in-law Robert Bravenec & Mary, Kylee Pease II, Jodi Bravenec-Lawrence, Harold J.
