John Wayne Creer February 8, 1940 ~ August 8, 2017 (age 77) John Wayne Creer, age 77, passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his family on August 8, 2017 after battling Parkinson's Disease. He is the son of Harold and Laura Creer, brother to Mary (David) Hansen, Steve (Marlene) Creer, Nancy (Robert) Potter, and Joanna (Mike) Shulsky, and brother-in-law to Stephen Gilmore (deceased), Kirk (Debi) Gilmore, Diana (Bruce) Galbraith, and Jeanne (Steve) Merrell. He is husband to Mary Ann; father to Matthew (April) Creer, Elizabeth (Brad) MacDonald, Mark (Stacey) Creer, and Adam (Brionna) Creer; and grandfather to 15 grandchildren. John loved God, family, and farming. He was born in Spanish Fork, Utah and spent his early years working on the family farm and participating in Future Farmers of America. He served a mission as a young man in Austria, creating lifelong memories and relationships. After studies at Utah State University, he then pursued training as a lawyer at the University of Utah and University of Munich. During his studies at the University of Utah, he accepted a blind date based on the assumption that a girl from Texas would have a ranch. The assumption was wrong but the girl was right. John and Mary Ann married in the Salt Lake City Temple. Following employment in Manhattan, Denver and Frankfurt, he and his family settled in Farmington, Utah, where he found an ideal career in leading and managing the commercial farms and ranches for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served God faithfully. He and Mary Ann served LDS missions in Hong Kong and South Africa, yielding great friendships. He loved to teach, especially the youth, and is remembered for his motto "we do hard things". He leaves a legacy of kindness, hard work, and love of learning. He has done hard things. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 12 at 11 a.m. at the Farmington LDS Stake Center, 347 S 200 W, Farmington, UT 84025. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 prior to services on Saturday, or Friday, August 11 from 7-9 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. Interment at Farmington City Cemetery. The family thanks dear Farmington neighbors for a lifetime of love, and the staff and residents at Bountiful Legacy House for their care and friendship.
