Bio
Cleo Marie was the 4th child born into a family of 10 living children.She was raised in Kaufman,Henderson,and VanZandt counties near Mabank,Texas. Mabank is located in the corner of Kaufman county near the other two counties. Her dad being a farmer the land he worked was in all three counties. When she was a small child she broke her arm and wore a cast for six weeks,complaining and crying the whole time about the pain. When it was finally removed her arm was withered--they said because the cast was too tight.It never recovered. At about sixteen she married Jasper Edgar Rogers and moved with him to Clyde in Callahan County Texas where his side of the family lived.They said that Edgar was a first cousin but I have never been able to prove it. Her mother,Pearl, was a Rogers. In 1930 at the age of 20 she and Edgar lost their 2 years old little girl to diptheria. In 1934 they had twin boys and in 1935 when the twins were 8 months old they lost one of them to something the doctor called "colitis". After Edgar passed away in 1967 she moved back to Mabank to be near family.After having her own home for all those years she moved into an apartment with no upkeep on her part.She lived across the street from one of her brothers and enjoyed family visits often.Other siblings lived in nearby towns. Cleo was a meticulous housekeeper and enjoyed a bright,sunny home with lots of light.Her disposition was much like her home,bright and sunny. Age catches up to all of us and after the family around her grew feeble and passed away she went to McClennan Texas where her remaining child could care for her.She passed away there and was brought back to be interred where she always felt at home.
