A devoted father, loving husband, and faithful friend, Fred McKethan died Friday, February 3, 2017, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Fred was born January 17, 1954 in San Benito, Texas to Fred and Nita McKethan and grew up in Victoria, Texas. After attending Texas A&M University ('78), Fred continued to live in College Station until his move to Kilgore in 1996 which gave him the opportunity for the new and lasting friendships that he so cherished. Fred studied industrial distribution at Texas A&M and worked in the oil and gas industry his entire adult life, most recently with Coastal Chemical. He loved a project, was the consummate host, honored a confidence, and was loyal and steadfast in his love for family and friends. His father, Fred A. McKethan of Bryan preceded him in death.
