Bio
Georgie Nita Oglesby was born on September 14, 1921 in Hamilton County, Texas, to Emma Jane McAdams and Ambrose Oglesby. She passed away on July 29, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas. She married Leslie T. Rickerson in Waco, Texas, on September 19, 1942. Mr. Rickerson pre-deceased Georgie on March 11, 2004. Georgie is survived by two children: George Rickerson of Columbia, Missouri; and Betty Bell of Lubbock; three grandchildren: Dan and Tim Rickerson and Zoe Bell; one sister, Joy Nowlin of Kenedy, Texas; and one brother, Jimmie Oglesby of Celina, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends. She is pre-deceased by one brother, Brose “Red” Oglesby, and one sister, Jean Alfie. Leslie and Georgie were faithful members of the Church of Christ and helped establish and nurture congregations in Texas, Wyoming, Kansas, South Dakota and Wisconsin. The family wishes to thank the staff at Interim Hospice and the nurses and staff at Brookdale Shadow Hills for their loving care of Georgie, and the “goils” at Brookdale who showed her such wonderful friendship. Visitation was held at Sanders Funeral Home on Monday July 31st. A graveside service will be held at the City of Lubbock Cemetery at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 1st.
