Bio

VALPARAISO VISITOR--May 16, 1918--Sad Death of Young Man--Henry D. Tomes, youngest son of Mr. & Mrs. E.J. Tomes, of Touhy, passed away at 11:20 p.m., on Thursday, May 9th, 1918, at the home of his sister, Mrs. F.J. Novak of Dwight. Death came to him after a lingering illness lasting for several months and for which there appeared to be no relief. Had he lived until July 11th Henry would have been eighteen years of age and just in the prime of young manhood. For some time before his death he assisted in conducting the business of the Dwight bank and was a steady, faithful and industrious young man. He leaves to mourn his loss father, mother, five brothers and two sisters besides a large number of young friends and associates. He was born and raised at Touhy, was a member of the Catholic church and also of the Sacred Heart Society of young people. The services were conducted by Rev. Father Mlejnek, assisted by Father Pazorek, of Dwight, Father Bor, of Weston and Father Nemec of Wahoo. Burial took place in the cemetery near the church at Touhy. All the family were at the funeral except F.W. Tomes, a brother in the west and Mrs. Novak, of Dwight, who was sick and could not attend.
