Dorothy Swierczek-Evans, age 91 of Columbus, died Friday, July 21, 2017 at Prairie Village Retirement Center in Columbus. Dorothy was born July 29, 1925 on a Nance County farm to John and Anna (Czarnik) Swierczek. She grew up in Nance, Polk and Merrick Counties. She graduated from Duncan High School and Columbus Beauty College. Dorothy married Joseph Swierczek on June 26, 1945 in Duncan, Nebraska. They lived in Omaha a few years and then the rest of their lives in Columbus. Joseph died July 13, 1980. On October 9, 1982, she was united in marriage to Blayne E. Evans at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Dorothy owned and operated Pawnee Beauty Salon for 50 years and Blayne and Dorothys for 7 years. She was a member of St. Anthonys parish. Dorothy loved to play cards, gamble, grow flowers, cook, and play with grandchildren.
