Bio

Troy Clinton Smith was the son of Joseph Woodie Smith and Delilah Roe Smith. Born at their ranch house on Dry Branch on May 11, 1924. In 1942 he graduated from Tivy High School then went to England for the Civil Service as an aircraft engine mechanics helper. He married Barbara Brown on September 11, 1943, in Warrington, England. Troy came home for three months, and in 1944, went to the draft board, since he was now of age, and signed up in the Marines. Serving in the 6th Marines Division. His wife Barbara came to Texas, leaving her widowed mother Gertrude Dutton Brown in England alone. Barbara was one when her father William Edwin Brown died at age 27 from WWI gas. Eventually Gertrude joined them in Texas, where she died 30 years later, buried this cemetery. Barbara died in 2007. Troy joined her May 24, 2015. Troy was the survived by one son and two daughters, two sisters, two grandsons, three granddaughters, one great-grandson, four great-granddaughters, four nephews, three nieces, numerous great-nephews and great-nieces. Preceded in death by his parents, dear wife Barbara and a granddaughter Lisanne Smith Foster.
