Bio
Dwain Brite Housholder, 81, passed away on July 12, 2017, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family. Dad was born Aug. 20, 1935, here in Tehachapi, which he called his home for 81 years. Dad was always proud to say he was a direct descendant of the Brite family, and could tell you the history of his family. He attended local schools, and graduated from Tehachapi High School in 1957. Dad enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country from 1958 to 1960. Dwain married the love of his life, Wave Drain, in 1961. He worked at Bob Carter Chevrolet as a mechanic, then at Western Auto, changing tires and waiting on customers. Following retirement from Tehachapi Unified School District in 1990 as head custodian at Tehachapi High School, Dad and Mom enjoyed traveling in their mini-motorhome. They enjoyed places like Death Valley, Kennedy Meadows and Camp Nelson. They could be found on a Friday night, backed into a spot at a Warrior football game. Dad is survived by our mom, Wave; son, James (MaryAnn); daughters, Tammy (Michael), and Bonnie; four grandchildren, Tanya (Scott), Clete (Lindsey), Trent (Christen), and Lacey (Jason); as well as 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
