Ella Bernice Thorne Mortensen "Our Special Mom" Ella Bernice Thorne Mortensen, age 81, of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 31, 2004 in Salt Lake City, UT. Bernice was born September 14, 1922 in Provo, UT to Robert and Mary Thorne. On August 20, 1941, she married Kent Neve Mortensen, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away on June 20, 1991. Bernice was active in the LDS church and served in many callings as a den mother, secretary in the Primary for 20 years. She is survived by her children, Joan (Dennis) Archer, Pamela (Jerry) Webb, Robert (Geniel) Mortensen, Kelly (Shannon) Mortensen, Wendy (Charles) Holloway; grandchildren, Rick (Jaye) Ashment, Julie (Scott) Meyer, Jim (Celeste) Ashment, Troy (Jill) Archer, Robin (Markus) Steirwalt, Tami (Cody) Christensen, Jason (Mikki) Webb, Jessica, Kyle, Austin, Andrew, Blake, Bryan (Sunny) Holloway, Michael, Stacey; great-grandchildren, Deillan, Jacob, Madison, Devin, Samantha, Jeri Nicole, Kira, Hayley, Jaden, Canyon, Jayde, Jayden, Hailey, Tara, Ashley, Landon; sister Lucille of Mesa AZ. She is preceded in death by her loving husband; parents; two sisters. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rosecrest 2nd Ward, 3101 South 2300 East. Friends may call Thursday evening, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 S. 2300 E., and at the church on Friday from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Dr. Miller and staff, of CareSource, for the loving care they gave our mom.
