Bio

Seymour Tribune December 5, 1960 John H. Christopher, 84, Seymour R3, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday in Schneck Memorial Hospital, where he was admitted at 8:10 a.m. the same day for treatment. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. from the Burkholder Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvin A. Mueller, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Chhurch, Sauers, in charge. Burial in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Burkholder Funeral Home at any time. Mr. Christopher, a retired farmer and life-long resident of Jackson County, was born August 28, 1876, in this county, son of the late Henry and Mary Buhner Christopher. On September 28, 1904, in Wisconsin, he married the former Emma Riegelman, who survives. During his long residence in the county, Mr. Christopher had acquired a host of friends who mourn his death. Other survivors besides the widow include seven children: Mrs. Linda Waldkoetter, of Seymour; Walter Christopher, of Blairstown, Iowa; Mrs. Wilma Hercamp and Reinhold Christopher, both of Seymour R4; Mrs. Selma Schnieder, Elizabethtown R1; Edgar Christopher, of Milbank, S.D., and Harold Christopher, Seymour R3; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and a brother, George Christopher, of Seymour. One son, two grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters preceded Mr. Christopher in death.
