Bio

Dennis was born on September 23, 1941 to John Mata Orsak and Albina Clara Gajewski Orsak in Sealy Texas. He was raised in Frydek on the family farm. He passed away peacefully in Sealy on July 10, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School followed by Sealy High School. Dennis was honorably discharged from the United States Army after serving his country from 1964-1966. Shortly after leaving the Army, he met and married Martha Rae Puckett in Houston, Texas. They were married in 1967 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek. They made their home in Frydek for most of their 46 years together. They were blessed with 4 healthy children. Dennis worked as a welder in Missouri City, Texas for over 30 years. Dennis was a simple man who practiced and shared his strong faith in God each and every day. He never met a stranger and would help anyone to the best of his ability. His family was very important to him and he loved spending time with his grandkids. He enjoyed his cows and building fence in his spare time. After retiring, he started most mornings at church followed by coffee and breakfast with his friends at Whataburger. Dennis proved his love and devotion by caring for his wife during her two year battle with cancer. Dennis was preceded in death by Martha, his wife of 46 years; his infant son, Dennis Orsak Jr.; his parents; two brothers; and one sister. He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Schmidt and her husband, Jerry, of Sealy; daughter, Traci Hlavaty and her husband, Gary, of Katy; son, Joshua Orsak and his wife, Shea, of Sealy; and daughter, Kimberly Kopecky and her husband, Trey, of Sealy. He has eight grandchildren, Kayleigh Schmidt, Cameron and Logan Hlavaty, Zachary and Haley Orsak, Nicholas Campos, and Noah and Gage Kopecky. His funeral mass was held on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frydek, with Rev Thuy Nguyen officiating. Pallbearers were Jerry Schmidt, Gary Hlavaty, Nicholas Campos, Chase Kuciemba, C.J. Orsak, and Jerry Brown. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Knesek Bros Funeral Home in Sealy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org. The family would like to thank Amazing Grace Hospice, the staff of Veranda House, Rev Thuy Nguyen and St. Mary's Altar Society, and his friends for all their love and support.
